HEAD OF MIDDLE SCHOOL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents,

As the penultimate week of the school year draws to a close we have used this as a time to focus on our leavers. We acknowledged both our staff and student leaver’s in our final Middle School Assembly and send them on their way with our very best wishes for the future and an open invitation to return and visit us at any time.

We marked the passage of Year 10 students moving to Senior School with The Big Bash. The organising committee did a fabulous job of setting up and running the event. You would not believe the transformation that the hall underwent at the guidance of this team, with all of their hard work paying off in terms of the space they created and the entertainment they arranged.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and a great way to finish Year 10 and be ready to move on to Senior School.

Through the post over the next couple of days you will be receiving an information pack from the school. This pack is to help prepare you and your child for the new school year. Included in it is a sheet with personal particulars for your child, containing information such as tutor group, tutor, your contact phone number and email address. Please check these details carefully and get back in touch with us if there are any changes to make.

As part of this information you will notice that we now refer to Heads of College as Heads of House and Senior Heads of House, as well as their being new administrators who will be looking after specific houses. Should you need to make changes to the information we have about your child then please contact the administrator for your child’s house – Crozier and Upsdell – Ms Olivia Pang (olivia.pang@kgv.edu.hk), Nightingale and Rowell – Ms Alice Lo (alice.lo@kgv.edu.hk).

We have a new structure that supports our tutoring teams, consisting of members of our existing Students Development team along with some new additions to replace our staff leavers and those staff taking up new positions across the school. Ms Carole Beer, Vice Principal, continues with overall responsibility for Student Development with the rest of the team as follows:

Over the summer we will be relocating locker across the school. For this to happen successfully all lockers need to be emptied with the locks removed. Any locks on lockers will be cut off and contents placed in Lost Property. Please ask your child to start the process of emptying lockers as early as possible.

This school year finishes on Friday 29th June at 12.15pm. It will be a dress casual day, but we will be having lessons 1 and 2 on this day. Students should bring materials for these lessons as guided by their teachers.

Have a good weekend.
