Message from the Principal

What a year at KGV!

It certainly has been a privilege and honour to complete my first year as Principal of KGV School. Moving schools, education systems, and countries has been a challenging and exciting experience for my family and me, and we have thoroughly enjoyed the adventure. I would like to thank the KGV School community for welcoming me and for the trust and support that has been afforded to me. I am so grateful for this opportunity and the chance to contribute to this great school and community.

Without a doubt, the aspect of moving to Hong Kong that has most impressed me is the quality of our students. Our students are truly remarkable; they are well-behaved, respectful, community minded, hardworking and talented. It is such a pleasure to come to school every day and interact with our students as they go about their daily business to be the best they can be.

I have also been deeply impressed with KGV’s teachers and staff. Our support staff work very hard to keep the wheels of the school turning, and support our students in meaningful ways. Their work is vital and we appreciate their contribution to our school and the impact they have on learning. Our teachers are passionate, committed, and go above and beyond for our students. The learning outcomes our students achieve is a reflection of the quality of teaching at KGV, and the excellent student-teacher relationships our community fosters.

Thank you also to all our parents and guardians. Your impact on student learning is powerful. Parenting is one of the most rewarding and challenging ‘jobs’ you can have. Your unrelenting support for ‘your child, our student’ and your active involvement in our school is very much valued and appreciated.

KGV is a great school with a rich and proud history. We are determined to make our school even better for the community and students we serve. While I am not driven so much by personal ambition, I am always very ambitious with regard to the future of the school that I lead. We are working hard to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement at our school, with the goal of becoming an agile and adaptive organisation that evolves and responds to the needs of our students and the wider community. Our primary focus is always about placing student needs first so we can provide an environment in which every student can ‘be their own remarkable’.

We wish all our students, parents, staff and community partners a wonderful summer break and we look forward to welcoming all our students back on Wednesday 15 August.

Kind regards
