Message from the Principal

Powerful Stuff!

At our next KGV Alliance event this Tuesday evening, we will be sharing a very powerful story of collaboration, innovation and partnership. Our new KGV Alliance is a community partnership, powered by student ideas to create positive change. Our goal is connect our students and school to the community in new, authentic and sustainable ways.

This story is about 12 KGV senior students participating in an internship with a local start-up business, Meeopp. What happened is quite amazing as our students:

  • Collaborated with the entrepreneurs and experienced different aspects of the business
  • Were placed in an exciting entrepreneurial environment
  • Were encouraged to come up with their own ideas for innovation
  • Engaged in real work challenges and learning opportunities
  • Were coached and mentored through the experience

The outcome was incredible. Through the collaboration, Meeopp and our students created a new online education product to accelerate Chinese Language acquisition at IB Diploma level. The school is now working with Meeopp and our students to further develop, test and iterate the product which is ready soon for commercial release.

On Tuesday evening, Meeopp Co-Founder Kathleen Ting will share this powerful story of collaboration. It will illustrate the exciting possibilities that exist as we connect people in our community in new and exciting ways. It also brings alive our school purpose to ‘be your own remarkable…’ and to create a ‘school for one’. Only a school embedded in the fabric of community, can create rich and real learning experiences for our students. The power in this story lies in the two way learning process. Not only did our students learn all about the world of start-ups, but they also helped create and shape new ideas in real time and in the world of business. Remarkable stuff!

We are also excited to invite Hong Kong based global speaker Rob Lilwall to this KGV Alliance event. We believe that Rob’s message about embracing challenge, overcoming fear, and having a collaborative mind-set will resonate strongly with the audience.

I again invite all our parents and students to attend on Tuesday evening 2 October. We know you will leave inspired by the quality of our students and the power of their dreams. Our presence will send a powerful message that we value our students and their big ideas. The only cost to attend is your time, ideas and positivity!

Please confirm your attendance through this link.
