Learning Poetry through Chinese Music with Dr. Hui Yin

Chinese music and poetry have been passed on from imperial dynasties of China, however it was only during the Tang dynasty where the two joined. It was a pleasure to have Dr. Hui with us at KGV School for this workshop explaining to students how music and Chinese poetry compliments one another, giving it life.

Learning Chinese poetry through the lens of a musician offers a different yet meaningful experience for students. Dr. Hui gave vivid explanations to the poems while showing students how Chinese orchestra enhances the stories. Seeing Chinese poetry from another perspective encouraged students to raise questions and challenge their knowledge towards it.
