KGV students teach English to primary school kids

The KGV Buddy Reading Programme is a joint activity organised by King George V School and Farm Road Government Primary School (FRGPS). On Fridays, some of the primary 3 students are invited to stay after school to practice their English in a fun and friendly manner with the help of international school students.

The English activity includes two sessions: at first session for buddy reading and second session for fun games. The KGV helpers have developed great friendships with our children and it is so rewarding to see them feeling more comfortable and being more active in using English.

Last but not least, we have to thank Miss Tiffany Wong, the KGV teach-in-charge for helping us organize this activity. We believe this activity has benefited both KGV helpers and our primary 3 students.

Student Sharing:
“The Farm Road Buddy Reading Programme is not only an educational programme that allows students to develop their skills in English but also one where they can enjoy themselves while reading and playing games. This programme creates a fun and lively atmosphere for kids to gain confidence and helps some to develop from being shy and timid into more active members of the group.”

“The Buddy Reading Programme is very rewarding as I get to see the students learn new English words and expressions. Although many of them look forward to game time, the students enjoy reading the books they have chosen. We encourage the students to speak only in English and many of them do – even during game time!”
