KGV in Pedal Kart 2016

On Saturday November 12th 2016, students from KGV set off to Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, eager to win the 30th anniversary of the 24-hour Pedal Kart race.  KGV were the largest team at the event with a total of six karts: four House Karts, one staff and student Fun Kart and a staff competitive Kart.  We competed against big companies like Dragon Air, Cathay Pacific and MTR. Despite the hot weather and some mechanical difficulties with the karts, all 155 students and 20 members of staff did amazingly well. Their passion and determination to keep going even though their legs were giving up, showed their remarkable team spirit.

Not only was there a competition with the other pedal kart teams, but also an inter-house competition within our school itself.  However, this did not stop students from acting friendly towards each other. It was so moving to see students and teachers working closely together, cheering each other on and helping with the karts whenever they could even if the kart was their competitor. Nightingale were victorious in the house event this year, completing 704 laps which is a total of 480km, an amazing achievement, I’m sure you agree.

It was sad to see the race end on Sunday, but it was evident from everyone’s faces that they had a fun time and enjoyed it while it lasted.
