KGV has just returned from the Middle School ISTA (International Schools Theatre Association) Festival which took place this year at Taipei American School, Taiwan. The festival lasted 3 days and with 140 students attending from across the Asia Pacific region (KGV had 20 students, from Years 7 to 10). Students all stay with host families which is vital part of the ethos of the festivals. They took master classes in various aspects theatre practice as well as working in ensembles to create a finished piece of theatre which was outstanding. This year’s theme was ‘Courage and Conviction’. Inspiration was taken from student response to the theme as well as a visit to see the highly choreographed changing of the guards at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and watching a breath taking performance of Taiwanese indigenous acrobats. An amazing learning experience that goes way beyond the classroom.
The video of the final performance can be watched here.
