KGV can proudly reveal that Geraldine Cheung was awarded this year’s title of Hong Kong Young Writer of the Year, 2019. This year’s competition was fierce with hundreds of applicants from not only Hong Kong, but China too. At yesterday’s event, Geraldine won her category AND the overall coveted prize. Geraldine was not the only successful KGV winner, Darrel Chew also scooped the prize for his category, Poetry 6. In total, KGV took 9 shortlisted students to the event with representatives from years 7-12, with submissions in fiction, non-fiction and poetry. All of the student’s pieces have been published in an anthology book that will be on sale in Bookazine and available to read in the school library. A massive well done to all of the students involved in this year’s event, the hard work, dedication and creativity was remarkable. It was a very proud day for KGV.
