Message from the Principal

Dear Parents

It has been wonderful to see so many of our year 11 and year 13 students back at school this week to engage in the KGV tutorial program. I have spoken to many students and they have appreciated the opportunity to come to school and participate in the tutorial program. A highlight has been the ability to learn with students that may not be normally in their classes, and to experience a range of teachers across the faculties.

This program is a good example of our vision to ‘create a school for one’. A ‘school for one’ is about personalizing learning where each and every student receives the feedback, teaching and challenge they need to improve and reach their potential. The tutorial program helps personalise learning by providing:

  • Student choice about which sessions to attend and how they use their precious study time;
  • Student voice through the option to email teachers prior to the session the topics and problems they would like covered in the session;
  • Open ended sessions where students can just turn up, work with peers and teachers on exam topics of interest;
  • Ongoing emotional support and counselling if students want to talk to someone about coping with the stress and anxiety during this time;

I would like to thank our teachers for their leadership and support for this new structured study leave tutorial program. I know our students really appreciate the opportunity. We have great confidence in our students because we know they take control of their own learning, they work hard as they strive to be the best they can be. In many ways, being the ‘best you can be’ is all we can ask from our students and it also sums up our school purpose ‘to be your own remarkable’. Good luck to all our students over the coming weeks.

Don’t forget to join us on 7 May for Alliance 5.

Kind regards
