KGV Cricket Win Their First Match of the Season

The high sunlit clouds drifted across a clear blue sky. It was a great day to play a match of cricket. KGV Senior vs CMACCK. Captain Abhinit Bumb had lost the toss and the opponent had elected to bat first which was what we wanted to do anyways, so everything went according to plan.

Our bowling was exceptional, with every bowler taking atleast 1 wicket and restricting the opposition to 104 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. An amazing performance by Dhananjay Rao who had bowled 4 beautiful overs resulting in 2 wickets and only 13 runs given. Also an impressive performance given by Avinash Dansinghani who had bowled 4 overs too resulting in 1 wicket and only 13 runs given. With Sourav Kumar taking the first wicket and putting the opposition under pressure, we had not let any of their batsman score more than 25 runs throughout the whole game. Last but not least Captain Abhinit’s extraordinary reverse swinging ball had got one of their batsman out on a duck.

This target wasn’t very difficult to chase down given than we had a very solid batting line up. Openers Vishesh Bordia and Aarush Bhagwat had stayed strong for the first 10 overs getting the team across the halfway mark. An unfortunate run out had lost Aarush his wicket scoring 12 runs. Next came in outstanding batsman Kalhan Challu who had supported Vishesh in his remarkable 44 runs carrying the team. Unfortunately, Vishesh had lost his wicket on an amazing delivery leaving 9 runs needed in the last two overs. In came sturdy Gaurav Gandhi who had a simple job to get KGV across 9 more runs with the help of Kalhan. This target was achieved very calmly by the two batsman taking easy singles and the final winning run was hit by Kalhan scoring his beautiful 26 runs and getting KGV their first win of the season.
