Head of Senior School’s Message

Dear Parents,

We have now had some major IB examinations completed this week including those that took place on the public holiday. There have understandably been some very anxious students, especially at the beginning of the week. This does affect students in different ways and with some it prevents them from listening carefully to the important instructions given by the invigilators at the beginning. Some deep breathing exercises and finding a quiet space away from others may help them to calm down before they enter the exam venue. Easier said than done, I know.

As well as the IB Diploma exams the year 11 students have also had one of their iGCSE exams this week. I trust they are making good use of their study leave. I have had some questions about expectations when coming into school at times other than for exams. Students must register with their Octopus cards on arrival and should also be in school uniform.

Good luck to the year 12 BTEC students as they now begin their work experience placements. For the rest of year 12 they now move into Core Week. Students have access to the schedule and it promises to be a busy week for them. However, there are some major assessment pieces that they should be able to make great progress with. As I mentioned last week, during period 5 we have paid for the licence to screen a new documentary about teen anxiety, called Angst. If any parents would like to come in and watch this then please complete the FORM. You will need to be logged into lionel to access the form.

Just a reminder from last week, the updated uniform policy has now been published. Details have been placed around school for students to see and our website has also been updated. Please click HERE for details. The new policy is takes effect from August 2018.
