Announcement (13:00 Update)

[13:00 Update]: Thank you again to the KGV School staff for their quick and decisive action today.

We would like to inform our parents that the Year 11 Further Pure Maths mock exam was just about to start when the evacuation occurred. No student had begun the exam before the evacuation occurred. After the evacuation the students were given a break and then started their exam at 11.55. This exam is now scheduled to finish at 13.55.

The Business Studies mock exam will start as scheduled at 13.45. Those students taking both Further Pure Maths and Business Studies exams will now start their exam at 14.30 (instead of 13:45) and as result finish at 16.00.

We are confident that the interruption caused by the evacuation will not disadvantage any of our students completing their mock exams today.

[12:10 Update]: The evacuation has now finalised. The students are about to begin period 4 as normal. We will complete the school day as planned. The school facilities team is now conducting a safety check in the room where the smoke was present. Its seems at this stage a CNC router machine has malfunctioned causing smoke to be released into this room. No students were present when the malfunction occurred.

As stated earlier , all our students and staff are safe and accounted for. Our evacuation procedure worked effectively and we thank all the staff for their professionalism and students for their orderly actions.

Please contact us if you have any further questions regarding this matter.

We would like to advise that a fire evacuation is currently underway at KGV. All staff and students are safe and accounted for. We are waiting for the clearance direction from the HK fire services. There was a small incident in a vacant DT work shop where a CNC router machine over heated causing smoke to be produced.
We hope to get students back into class within the next 30 min.

We will provide further updates shortly.
