2017 KGV Fitness Marketplace

The 2017 KGV Fitness Marketplace was a showcase of what the Year 12 BTEC Sport students engaged in during their programme of study of Unit 4 (Fitness Training and Programming) as well as Unit 7 (Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise) in a marketplace fitness testing arena where the KGV community “shop” around for a fitness test. The students delivered fitness tests which indicated to their potential clients what their agility, coordination, power, static strength, muscular endurance and aerobic endurance levels were. These tests last about 3 to 6 minutes long and after which, the BTEC Sport students obtained the results and pitched them against a set of normative data to reflect how strong, coordinated, powerful or high or low the muscular and aerobic endurance levels were with recommendations provided to these individuals. Following that, the potential clients might be approached by our BTEC Sport students to offer a set of health monitoring tests and a six week long training programme to meet their goals should they choose to do so.

We had close to six hundred students, senior leadership team members, teachers, canteen staff members and parents attend this exciting event. Our BTEC Sport students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were completely empowered and enthused by this project as it was able to vocationally contextualise what it really means to adopt the role of a personal trainer in the real world. Below is the link of the photos of the day. Enjoy and thank you to all who attended this event once again!
