KGV Mathematics Curriculum Information Evening for Y7 Parents: Summary, Feedback and Initial Action Points

Summary, Feedback and Initial Action Points

The evening was very well attended by over 100 parents of Y7 students. It was a great opportunity to communicate and work with parents on how to best support our students, to ensure continued high achievement and positive engagement in Mathematics at KGV.

The evening was split into three broad sessions:

  1. Overview of the Mathematics pathways from Y7-Y13 and the specifics of the Year 7 Mathematics curriculum
  2. Group discussions and parental feedback on what works, what doesn’t and questions still to be answered
  3. Summary of the feedback

It was invaluable to talk with parents on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to develop shared goals and understanding around the student and parent curriculum experience.

To get a flavour of what was covered on the evening see the presentation here: Y7 Curriculum Information Evening Slide Deck

Initial Action Points

  1. Collation of questions and answers to be fed through the Parent Newsletter and Home Learning log.
  2. Hard copies of textbooks are made available to students that wish to take a textbook home. Students will need to bring their textbook to every Maths lesson. Electronic copies are available for those that prefer not to have to carry a textbook to and from school. [http://www.cimt.org.uk/projects/mepres/book7/book7.htm]

As ever, if you have any questions, we encourage you to contact your child’s Maths teacher, in order that we can develop a positive dialogue and work together to ensure that every child is enabled to maximise their achievement and is engaged and positive about their mathematical experience at KGV and beyond.

Regards and best wishes for the Year of the Dog
