Year 9 Experience – Factsheet

The Year 9 Experience is an example of project based learning.

Students are collaborating in groups that have been identified through shared passions and students suggesting what skills they are good at.

They will work together in a group to follow the ‘IPARD’ inquiry cycle:

In their groups students will:

  • Plan the project they want to complete
  • Decide on the type of action they want to take
  • Be supported by a teacher supervisor
  • Have input from expert mentors where possible
  • Plan their action, making sure it has been through the school risk assessment processes to ensure safety.
  • Take two days of action
  • Collect evidence and reflect on their work
  • Present their outcomes through a 15 minute presentation and exhibition

Assessment will be through feedback on the presentation and exhibition. This will not be a grade but will be reflections on the quality of their work and targets for further development.
