Traffic Accident

This is an important reminder that students should not be dropping off in either Sheung Kin or Sheung Hong street outside the gates. To ensure our children’s safety, vehicles entering the school should follow the one way circuit, drive slowly and avoid stopping to drop off passengers on the approach roads at both the front and back gate during rush hours.

This week at KGV, a minor traffic incident occurred when a taxi stopped in front of the KGV / JCSRS front gate. A taxi passenger mistakenly opened their roadside rear door just as the KGV Tung Chung school bus was alongside and coming up the short hill on Sheung Kin Street. The bus collided with the taxi door although no one was injured at the incident. The KGV students left the bus through the emergency rear exit, using the step ladder the bus carries for such occasions. The students were all safe and supervised by the bus driver and KGV teachers Ms Hitchings and Ms Houghton who controlled the situation. Authorities arrived shortly to take safety measures. This incident is an example of the traffic danger that could occur at KGV School. To prioritise children’s safety and avoid this from happening, it is very important that road and traffic rules are strictly followed.
