The Darkness into Light Hong Kong

Staff, parents, students and the wider community are welcome to join THE DARKNESS INTO LIGHT WALK taking place on Saturday 11 May at 4:30am from Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park.

As well as supporting Pieta House in Ireland, half of the proceedings goes to local charity partners in Hong Kong:

  • KELY Support Group(KELY) an NGO which provides support to youth between the ages of 14 and 24 in Hong Kong from Chinese-speaking, Ethnic Minority and English-speaking backgrounds;
  • The Samaritan BefriendersHong Kong a local voluntary agency which provides counselling services to people with suicidal tendencies or behaviour;
  • Mind HK, through public campaigns and events look to improve awareness and understanding around mental health and, in turn, influence decision makers to establish a comprehensive mental health policy in Hong Kong.

Hundreds of thousands of people around the world will get together on 11 May to walk from the darkness of night into the light of morning to help in the global fight against suicide and self-harm – an issue of considerable importance in Hong Kong.  Symbolically the walk represents the therapeutic counselling journey.  It sparks conversation about the importance of mental health and well-being in all of our lives.

This is a superb global effort and it deserves all our support.  So join us on 11 May and let’s walk together for a brighter future!  Sign up on: https://www.darknessintolight.ie/event/hong-kong
