Scheduled Tutorial Program during Year 11 and 13 Study Leave

At the end of this term our Year 11 and 13 students embark on ‘study leave’ as they prepare for their IGCSE and IB Diploma exams that occur throughout most of term 3. Our staff appreciate that this can be a stressful time for our students. To more deeply understand the experience through the eyes of our students, earlier this term we organised some focus groups of Year 11 and 13 students to brainstorm what else we could do to support their learning and exam preparation. One idea to come out of the sessions was to provide more structure to tutorial assistance over the study leave period.

As a result, during the third term ‘study leave’ period, KGV School will now:

  • Schedule tutorial sessions for every subject, every week up until the final exam date for each subject.
  • Allow students to nominate questions and topics that they would like to cover so teachers can prepare and tailor the sessions for the attending students.
  • Create an online registration system and allow students to register as late as the night before the scheduled session.
  • Provide opportunity for students to access their assigned subject teacher as well as other teachers scheduled to teach that subject.

Seeking and responding to student feedback aligns directly with our school vision to create a ‘school for one’. A place where each and every person engages in remarkable learning to achieve at high levels and be the best they can be. This vision reflects the goal to personalise learning and provide the support and extension our students need to progress their learning.

Thank you to Mr Carrell and Mr Wightman for seeking the feedback and leading this process. Over the next couple of weeks all students in Year 11 and 13 will be emailed registration details which will remain live up until the final exams in late May.

Kind regards
