“Limitless: Learning through Living”

ESF Experiential Learning Programme for Year 9 students

Overview

Limitless is a 6-week experiential education program (May 1 – June 12, 2020). This is the second year that Limitless has been offered to ESF students.

It is for Year 9 students across all ESF schools and a maximum of 60 places are available.

The program will be provided by Higher Ground, an outdoor education company based in Queensland, Australia.

Application will be via an ESF-wide online form on the Limitless website. This will require a short application letter, basic details of the student and suitability for the programme.

Program details

The programme aims to progress students from dependence, through independence, to interdependence across several layers – developing social emotional, community living, interpersonal skills, and physical health.

Students will complete 3 expeditions, developing a progressive level of autonomy, from a

• day, to a 5-day, culminating in a 10-day expedition. These are undertaken in National Park areas in close proximity to the Higher Ground

Students will prepare for these expeditions by learning the core skills – such as cooking, cleaning, pitching tents, navigation, Canoe and Kayak skills, fitness and more – whilst at the Higher Ground Campus.

Two community service projects will be completed over the course of the six weeks, aimed at igniting a passion for being involved with, and giving back to, the community they are based in.
