KGV supports World Autism Awareness Day as a school for one

KGV – ‘A school for one’ demonstrating their commitment to inclusion on World Autism Awareness Day.
Students started Autism Awareness month by learning about autism and the importance of inclusion during daily tutor times. This then prompted our Autism Awareness Student Advocates to volunteer and support the cause by creating factual posters to display around school and by organising the student lead bake sale. On the 2nd of April (World Autism Awareness Day) students showed their support by coming to school wearing something blue and by taking part in the bake sale. The main event of the day was joining with our friends at Jockey Club Sara Roe to create a whole school human puzzle piece (the Autism Awareness logo) on the school field. Donations were collected over the duration of the day with a whopping $4,800 collected so far. All proceeds will go to the Jockey Club Sarah Roe to help buy a new wheelchair accessible bus. It was a fantastic day celebrating the inclusive culture we have here at KGV. A massive thank you to the PE department for their organization and our student volunteers Kevin Wardana, Sophie Hui, Christie Melville, Harshita Parmar & Evelyn Wong.
