Head of Middle School’s Message

Dear Parents,

I am sure that everyone will be looking forward to the end of term and the holidays that follow. I know I am, in particular spending some quality time with my family as we all regroup from another busy year. Casting an eye beyond the holidays, for some the start of the academic year means preparing for a new year at KGV with all that that entails, from new courses, new teachers and new friends. I know for some the change is far greater than this, with a change of school and with that perhaps a change in country on the cards too. If today marks the end of you and your family’s time as part of the KGV community then I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my best wishes to you for the move that lies ahead.

For those of you remaining with us next year, I would like to draw your attention to our uniform expectations. Please refer to the information on the school website – Uniform Expectations – as you equip your child for the new school year. During the summer break the PTSA shop is open from 9am – 3.00pm Monday to Friday from 23 July onwards, with shop staff on hand to help out with all uniform and stationary needs.

This message is my last as Head of Middle School. With the restructure of our Student Development roles that I mentioned last week I take on the role of Senior Head of House for Nightingale from August 2018. I am looking forward to this new role, in particular having an official affiliation with a House, as well as the opportunity to work with students throughout all year groups in the school. Prompted by the end of term when one naturally casts the mind back over the year I have browsed through my previous messages. There are just shy of three hundred of them, each with their own typos and spelling mistakes, along with the inevitable references to the weather. So in keeping with traditions I leave you with a final meteorological observation – ” glorious blue skies with cooling breezes sending us off into the summer break seems like the perfect way to end the school year.”

I hope that you all enjoy the time with your families and I look forward to seeing everyone back in school when we start back on Wednesday 15 August 2018.
