Greetings from the Wellbeing team

Dear parents,

Greetings from the Wellbeing team!

We are a team of 2 counsellors Holly and David, 2 social workers Cherie and Catherine and 3 ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Advisors) Mr Chappell, Ms Chu and Ms Kwok. We work closely together to support students’ wellbeing in KGV, you can find out more information from an introductory page on student planner. The Wellbeing Centre is located on the 1/F Vertical Extension Building.

Counsellors and social workers provide one-to-one support for students who need extra help with a variety of issues they may face, it is a confidential support to help them address difficulties that affect their social, emotional or intellectual wellbeing. The progress will review after 6 sessions to assess whether students need any further support. Counselling sessions are confidential and details will not be shared with parents or teachers without a student’s permission but with 3 exceptions: hurting yourself, hurting others or someone’s hurting you. Students are required to sign a consent form on their first counselling session, click here to view the form.

ELSAs focus on the teaching of emotional intelligence, they plan and deliver programs of support to students who are experiencing temporary or longer term additional emotional needs. Majority of ELSA work delivers on an individual basis, but sometimes lead programs on social and friendship skills. Parents are often notified if students are receiving ELSA support.
