Enormous success in the annual HK Inter-school Chess Competition

KGV once again experienced enormous success in the annual Hong Kong Inter-school Chess Competition organised by the Hong Kong Junior Chess Club. This year it was held in KGV. The tournament is a 2-day event consisting of 7 rounds.

We entered 3 teams of 4 to represent KGV this year. Everyone showed passion, dedication, enthusiasm and above all, great KGV team spirit throughout the competition. There were some standout performances from most notably our junior chess players, some of which are representing the school for the very first-time including Scott Leung and Adrian Wu. Furthermore, Vishesh Bordia, Louie Choy, Jasmine Leung, and Deepak Nair have all won individual prizes for their respected boards. Ultimately, a team of 4 students (Deepak Nair, Louie Choy, Vishesh Bordia, Ismet Ozer) finished in 2nd place, an incredible achievement.  However, this result could not have been possible without the dedication and display of sportsmanship within all players representing KGV.

The following members put forward tremendous amounts of effort over the tournament:

Pak Liu, Kobe Ip, Jasmine Leung, Harold Kwong, Andy Zhang, Owen Kam, Adrian Wu, Scott Leung, Malhaar Vora, Vishesh Bordia, Louie Choy, Deepak Nair

Thank you to the activities office for helping with the registration of our participation and very special thanks to Ms. Hu who helped support our teams throughout the tournament. This success wouldn’t have been possible without their endless support.
