Congratulations on a great comeback win from KGV!

Island school beat YCIS 10-0 in the last round and was scheduled to play KGV next in the quarterfinals of the ISSFHK U20 Tournament.

We were 2-0 down after 10 minutes. Two poor defensive mistakes coupled with two excellent strikes from Island School who were far superior in every aspect during the first 25 minutes.

We scored after 25 minutes. After some good work down the left from Theo Ivarsson, the ball fell to Stanley Banbury, who hit the top corner from 30 yards with a wonderful strike. Aditya Chand then produced an excellent save just before the half time whistle to keep us within a score of IS.

After a few choice words at half time, the team’s performance improved drastically and dominated the majority of the second half and had a number of opportunities to score. Theo Ivarsson produced a moment of magic to score with a curling effort from 35 yards before Jesse Yu was put through on goal earn a dramatic comeback win.

Special mentions to Olivier Muh who was fantastic during the second half and to Nicholas Gerigk who was colossal and easily the best player on the pitch throughout despite still being young enough to represent B grade.
