About Students |
KGV students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. The school's current capacity is 1640 students. There are over 45 different nationalities represented in the school. 55% of our students are ethnic Chinese, although the majority hold overseas passports. Our second biggest ethnic grouping, representing approximately 15% of the student body, are Indian students. The remaining students are either Eurasian, Caucasian or of other East Asian origin.
KGV is a non-selective school on the basis of academic ability. There is an English test, though this is to ensure that students are able to access the curriculum through English and to provide information on the level of English support required. The School operates a Learning Support Centre for 28 students who have particular learning difficulties. The school promotes a policy of inclusion for all students.
KGV is co-educational with roughly even numbers of boys and girls in each year group. Many of our students have very high aspirations and are very self-motivated. Students excel not just in academic subjects, but in the wider curriculum, particularly in the areas of the sport, music, drama and art.
