Spring Blossom
Imagine living with no electricity, no clean water, not enough food, and no education. While most of you may find this rather far-fetched, this is the reality for thousands of children in china. In 1989, China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) launched a project aimed to aid these girls in the poverty-stricken regions. It was called the "Spring Blossom Project". Over the past 17 years, this project has all together helped sponsor over 1,500,000 girls in their education. So where does King George V fit in all this?
Having successfully conducted 7 Spring Blossom visits to China, KGV is happy to announce that from the 29 th of October to the 6 th of November, a group of 28 senior students will be fulfilling the KGV tradition and heading off to LingShan, in SiChuan Province. This trip is not only about teaching young impoverished girls english, but about the confluence of two totally different groups of young people with diverse cultures and backgrounds. It is about sharing experiences; it is about making new friends; most of all, it is about love and belief. This site will be our gateway between the Spring Blossom Trip and KGV. With luck, the journal section will be updated everday throughout the trip, with daily recounts of our activities (plus photos). Please feel free to surf around this site at your leisure. |
