The 7:30am wake up call concluded our long night’s party and we woke up to the last day of our Qinghai visit.

We packed our suitcases for the last time and had a Chinese style buffet for breakfast in a nearby restaurant.  Soon after breakfast, we boarded our bus for a 40-minute ride to Xining Airport. Although tired, we tried hard to stay awake during the ride to view what Xining has to offer for the last time.  At the airport, emotions stirred and we were all unwilling to board our flight. We sang to “Leaving on a jet plane” as we went through the customs. We said our thanks and goodbyes to the representatives of the Qinghai Women’s Federation, our tour guide and photographer.

On the 2-hour flight, we finally retired to sleep mode whilst some of us continued their card game battles. At 12:45pm, we landed on Beijing International Airport where we waved to two of our crew, Caroline Watson and Jennifer Chow.

The couple of hours before our next flight gave us time to retreat to the airport café, where we were able to taste international food again:
Korean, Japanese, American burgers etc.

We boarded our flight to Hong Kong at 3:20pm. Again, many of us dozed off into unconsciousness and some played their last games of Big2, Bluff, etc during the flight.

We landed at Chek Lap Kok International Airport at 7:00pm. As soon as we exited the gates, we gathered around to a Spring Blossom tradition, a group hug. The hug wrapped up the different emotions we were feeling and completed the seven-day trip.

At the departure hall, where we were picked up by our parents, we gathered once more to sing our theme song “Jie mei” for the last time. I had a difficult time holding my tears back, because the trip had made a difference in my life. All the efforts that I have put in paid off, because what I learnt and experienced on the trip was so much more rewarding and meaningful in return.

Finally, we all slowly drift off in different directions, going back to our routinal lives again, but bringing with us unforgettable memories and experiences.
