First Aid Team

Our First Aid team consist of a registered nurse and over fifty staff who are certified as first aid providers.

Our Nurse, Conny Wan, is based on the school site during normal school hours (7:45am-4:00pm). She administers emergencies as they arise within school and make appropriate arrangements for students who feel sick.

Medical Room's Location and equipment

Medical Room Our Medical Room is situated on the Lower Ground Floor of the school in the building of New Block near the exit to Sheung Shing Street. The room is well equipped with first aid medical supplies, oxygen and defibrillator.

Basic first-aid kits are also located in high risk areas such as the sports areas, Design & Technology classrooms, science laboratories and art rooms. These meet the requirements as set out by the Hong Kong Education Bureau.

In accordance with the ESF Field Trips Policy all external trips will be provided with First Aid Kits for trip leaders. ESF policy determines the contents of the First Aid Kits for trips.

Emergency Arrangement

In the event of a serious accident an emergency service will be arranged at once and the parents will be contacted immediately. Then a member of the teaching staff, usually a Senior Leader, will accompany the casualty to the hospital emergency department. For less serious issues, a parent will be asked to collect their child from school and go for further treatment. It is important that parents inform the school of any changes to their emergency contacts and also inform the school who is responsible for their child if parents are out of Hong Kong. For any emergency cases during the nurse's lunch hour (12:15 - 13:15), please contact the general office at 27113029.

Policies for visiting medical room for non-emergent cases

Our Teaching staff will send a student to see the nurse if the student requires attention. Students can visit the Medical Room during their break or lunch time if they are feeling unwell. Students must have permission from the class teacher if they need to go to the medical room during a lesson. Any students who return to the lesson will have a medical slip to present to teacher. Every visit made by a student, must properly be recorded on the medical room report sheet provided by the Nurse. The Nurse will inform parents if she feels there is a need for any follow up or if the student needs to go home.

Students who have fever or flu, the school strongly recommends that they remain at home. If a student has contracted infectious disease, the parent should report this to the school nurse before the student returns to school. Panadol will not be provided by school.

Medicines administration

All students' personal medications are properly labeled and stored in a secure and safe place in the Medical Room. If a student needs to take any medication during school hours, then it is advised that the medication is taken with the supervision of the nurse. The school does not support self-medication. All medication taken under the supervision of the nurse must have the doctor's prescription and consent from parents. Any student who has any medical history should provide details for the nurse.

The Medical Room stores only antacids, oral rehydration fluid & anti-allergy tablets (piriton 2-4mg for emergency purpose), external use creams & irrigation solutions for eye or wounds. Parents should advise the school if their child has any allergy to any of these mentioned medical items. The above oral medications request parent's oral consent before given to students except in an emergency situation.
