Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
Matthew
5
44But I tell you: Love your enemies[1]
and pray for those who persecute you,
Matthew
5
39But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes
you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if someone
wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.
Matthew

52"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him,
"for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
James
2
8If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your
neighbor as yourself,"[1]
you are doing right. 9But if you show favoritism, you sin and are
convicted by the law as lawbreakers.
Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
Mark
12
30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul
and with all your mind and with all your strength.'[1]
31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[2]
There is no commandment greater than these."
4Love
is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It
is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no
record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with
the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always
perseveres.
8Love never fails.
26You
are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for all of you
who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There
is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one
in Christ Jesus.
Surah
42:40
The
reward for an injury is an equal injury back.
Surah
22:40
A
sanction is given to those who, because they have suffered outrages, have taken
up arms.
Surah
8:61
If the
enemy inclines towards peace, then you must also incline towards peace
Surah
49:9
If two
sides quarrel, make peace with them. But if one trespasses beyond bounds against
the other, then fight against the one that trespasses until it complies with the
law of God; and if it complies, then make peace between them with justice and be
fair.
Muslims
do not favour war (the greeting used by all Muslims is ‘salaam aleikum’ –
May peace be with you). The Qur’an states:
“If
the enemy inclines towards peace, then you must also incline towards peace”
Surah 8:61
However,
they do recognise that there are times when war is necessary. The Muslim concept for a holy war is ‘jihad’ (in Arabic
this means ‘striving’) The principle behind jihad is to fight against
tyranny and oppression in order to bring justice and peace.
Verses
from the Qur’an:
“If
God did not check certain people by using others, surely many monasteries,
churches, synagogues and mosques would all have been pulled down. God will aid
those who fight for Him”
