Religious People

Assignment

Working in groups, you are to research TWO Religious people. They must be from two different religions.

You are to present your research in two forms:-

a) A poster

This must include:

Biographical accounts of both people (where are they from, a bit about their life.)
How or why they converted to their religion
The way in which their religion influenced their lives – what did they actually do because of their religious beliefs?
How successful they have been in their ‘mission’ or service of their religion.
What people from their religion can learn from them.
What people from another religion or with no religion can learn from them.
A bibliography, listing all the sources you have used (books, films, magazine articles and websites.)

b) A classroom presentation.

Chose ONE of the religious people studied and present a scene from their life that shows how their religion impacted them. For example, if you were doing Brother Andrew, you might like to act out a bible smuggling trip across the border of a restricted country.

This can be presented in the form of a role play, a first person narrative (ie imagine YOU are the person and you are telling the story from your own point of view) or a simple speech. It should only be about 3 -5 minutes long.

Mark Scheme

0 marks – There is evidence that a majority of the work has been copied or cut and pasted from other sources.

1 – 5 marks – some of the work has been copied but some is the students. Only one source has been used. The work only fulfils two of the criteria above and only answers limited questions. It is poorly presented.

6 – 10 – There is some evidence of research. Most of the questions have been attempted. Most of the criteria has been fulfilled. Presentation is satisfactory.

11 – 15 – Students have researched the topics and made a satisfactory attempt to meet all the criteria and address all the questions. Presentation is good. A bibliography is included.

16 – 20 – The students have researched thoroughly and answered all the questions with thought and detail. All the criteria have been met and presentation is excellent. A bibliography has been included.
