Religious Studies Year 7 Brochure

This is meant to be a guide only – you can make your own design but if you do you must ensure that you include all the relevant material. Good luck and remember this forms part of your assessment mark for Religious Studies this year.

This box could be for your title – you could use word art or go to www.flamingtext.com to make this stylish– your title will be:

“Religion in Hong Kong: All you need to know"

If you wanted you could also cut and paste a picture of a logo of Hong Kong in here

This is where you are going to put your design of your symbol for Hong Kong and religion – remember your symbol has to include the following:

  1. The different faiths of Hong Kong – you could use pictures of symbols here
  2. Hong Kong – you could use symbols of Hong Kong, our flag or pictures to represent Hong Kong
  3. What religion is – think back to our first lesson where we looked at what it meant to be religious – you came up with different words and pictures to represent different things about religion – holy, power, God etc.

You will now need a little bit of text to introduce Hong Kong and religion….you can use the following to help you – the missing words are:-

CHINESE            DIFFERENT           CHINA              INTERNATIONAL

SOUTH EAST ASIA

Hong Kong is a city in - - - - -  - - - -  - - - -.It is known as the gateway to - - - - -, a county of growing significance in the financial world. Most people in Hong Kong are of - - - - - - - origin although it is recognised as an - - - - - - - - - - - - -  city and has people living in from all over the world. This means that Hong Kong has to cater for people from all over the world and their  - - - - - - - - -  beliefs. Throughout the last two hundred years Hong Kong has built different religious buildings to reflect all of these beliefs.

This box could include a map of where you have been in Hong Kong and position of some of the places of worship that we have seen – this can be drawn by hand of cut and pasted from a web site of a map – it is up to you!!! You can also include other places of worship that you know exist- not just the ones we visited on the trip.

There were three places we visited – you may have taken photos on the trip that you wish to use here – if you didn’t take photos don’t worry because we did  - you can print the photos from the Religious Studies Department web site – go to www.kgv.edu.hk and click on departments…then social studies…and then RS. Follow the link to Religious Studies Year 7 Trail and then you will see the photos.

Remember to include (for ALL three places):

Be creative about how you present each one!  You do not have to follow this guide but you must include all the important information mentioned above.  It should be two sides of A4 in length – this does include pictures but there should be the correct amount of writing here as well.

Good luck!
