Chinese Festivals   

Group Work

Choose one Chinese Festival and produce a poster for display purposes which answers the following questions:

• What the festival is about
• How it is celebrated
• What the festival teaches Chinese people about life.
• How people who do not follow the Chinese religion can learn from the festival?

Your work must be completed on A1 paper and must be aesthetically pleasing (think Feng Shui!!!). This will form part of your assessment for your overall grade this term (20%) and therefore must be done in as much detail as possible. You must carry out the following criteria:

• At least two pages of written information – this should be researched and be in your own words – you will get marks for the quality of your information as well as the presentation of your report. If you are caught copying and pasting then you will get no marks.
• Pictures
• A list of sources used with full name and author – a bibliography

The poster will be marked out of 20 – here is a description of the mark scheme:

0 marks – There is evidence that a majority of the work has been copied or cut and paste from other sources.

1 – 5 marks – some of the work has been copied but some is the students. Only one source has been used. The work only fulfils two of the criteria above and only answers limited questions. It is poorly presented.

6 – 10 – There is some evidence of research. Most of the questions have been attempted. Most of the criteria has been fulfilled. Presentation is satisfactory.

11 – 15 – Students have researched the topics and made a satisfactory attempt to meet all the criteria and address all the questions. Presentation is good. A bibliography is included.

16 – 20 – The students have researched thoroughly and answered all the questions with thought and detail. All the criteria have been met and presentation is excellent. A bibliography has been included.
