EDEXCEL MARK SCHEME
Candidates must submit two pieces of coursework. They must not exceed 1500 words but that does not include footnotes and appendices.
The coursework will be marked alongside the assessment criteria set down in the syllabus.

The first three assessment objectives are contained within section a questions on the coursework and are worth 12 marks in total. Candidates will be awarded these marks based on the following level descriptions.

| 1 | 1-3 | gives isolated examples of simple but appropriate knowledge or understanding |
| 2 | 4-6 | presents basic knowledge or understanding in a structured way |
| 3 | 7-9 | shows an organised range of relevant knowledge, including some specialist vocabulary, with understanding of the main ideas |
| 4 | 10-12 | deploys knowledge and specialist vocabulary in a coherent and comprehensive way with clear understanding of the main ideas |
The fourth assessment objective is contained within the section b question and is worth 8 marks. Candidates will be awarded these marks based on the following level descriptions.
