No Ceiling Project – Last Meeting

Overall, we thought that it was a fun and valuable experience as we got to meet new people and work on a creative and innovative project. We felt that the theme of programming & coding was very appropriate in this day and age due to the continuing rise of technology.

Many other groups faced problems with using text-based coding languages, such as Java, and decided to use simpler languages such as Scratch in order to better understand the higher level concepts behind the game. Our group, however, did not encounter this problem and instead followed tutorials on the web to learn C#, which was used to program the game.

Additionally, many groups, including ours, faced communication issues within the group – and we found that the programming of a game was generally an individual task – and as such we needed to distribute separate tasks between our members in order to have more effective collaboration as a whole. In our case, Gaurav programmed the game, Leo made the graphics and designed the UI, and the rest of the group worked on the game concept and presentation.

We feel that the theme this year has helped us in a broader sense as well, as our specific game has helped provide us with an inspiration to pursue further programming projects. It has also taught us how to develop a game and now we have experience in that field and may be able to work more efficiently the next time we encounter a project like this. In the future, we will continue to try and improve our skills in programming and coding.
