IB Oral Exams: IB Oral exams Wed 12th to Fri 14th March
Please note that Y13 students will be doing IB Oral examinations from Wed to Fri of this week on 3rd Floor of the New Block. The exams are recorded and sent to the IBO so a quiet environment is essential. Therefore please do NOT ignore exam signs in the New Block and don't walk through cordoned off areas unless you are arriving for an exam. There are also some room changes to be aware of so please ask your language teacher for details or see the attachment.

General: Author visit - Alex Scarrow
The best-selling author, Alex Scarrow will be visiting KGV on Tuesday, 11th March 2014. He will offer workshops and talks on reading / creative writing to both middle school and senior school students. A small selection of his books will be available for sale on the day of his visit at school, please remember to bring enough money to buy books. Book signing will be arranged between 2:00pm to 2:20pm in the library.

Project Organiser: HK SKH Lady MacLehose Centre, Kwai Chung (www.skhlmc.org)
Background information: Lady MacLehose Centre in Kwai Chung serves many low income families (mostly new immigrants) from the neighborhood. The new immigrant students need a lot of help with English but unfortunately they cannot afford tuition. This on-going program offers each KGV student the chance to support one local student with their homework, either over the phone or in person. In return, the buddy might be able to help KGV students improve their Mandarin!
All of the KGV volunteers and new immigrant students will meet face to face during the first session, and to be matched with their buddies. There will also be an outing for all the participants in mid June.
Date: Mid March to early June
Format: Once a week, Monday through Friday, afternoon or early evening, 1 hour in total.

Project: KGV students will join with some local teenagers from Kwai Chung to bake pastries at the MacLehose Centre in the afternoon. The teenagers will then invite KGV students to visit their homes (wooden partition flats), and give away the goodies to the residents in the community. This will provide a great opportunity for KGV students to learn more about the local community and make friends at the same time.

Two training sessions will be held to teach student volunteers how to make presents for the children, plan different activities and games, as well as prepare and cook food for the birthday party.

CAS Opportunity: UNICEF Soap Processing Workshop for Year 10s and above!
Looking for volunteers for soap processing workshop! Within the workshop you will learn about Global Handwashing Day and UNICEF’s work in this field. Participants must be 14 years old or above. Places are limited so students will be selected on a first-come first-serve basis.
