Project: We will make bread at the Lady MacLehose Centre on Thursday and give them away to the homeless in Shum Shui Po area on Friday.

Date: Thursday April 24th (3.30 - 7:30pm) + Friday April 25th (4:30 to 6pm)
Location: HK SKH Lady MacLehose Centre, Kwai Chung
Age requirement: Year 10 or above
Spaces available: 10 slots - first come first served.

General: KGV World Record Bleep Test Attempt

On Tuesday 29th April at 2.15pm KGV will be celebrating the opening of the new school field by attempting to break the World Record for the most partipcants in a bleep test. The current record is 329 people and was achieved by Marymede Catholic College in Melbourne, Australia on 24th October 2013.

Attached are the list of students who achieved the base level (Level 6) which is needed to attempt this test. These students (600+) will be attempting to break the record!!

Please let me know if you are unable to do the test for whatever reason.

In the meantime, stay physically active over Easter and dont eat to much chocolate!!

or you will not be allowed to leave after your exams. You can put it in the drop box outside exam office, email it to exam@kgv.edu.hk or mail it to us over the Easter holiday.


Uniform: Tomorrow is uniform as usual

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday is a normal school day with normal school uniform. All students are expected to wear normal school uniform properly as per usual.

Site news: Another phase of the building work has come to an end. The following changes will take effect after Easter ...

  • The Library and the Reading centre will be closed to allow the transition of 40,000+ books to new Learning Resource Centre (LRC). The new LRC is due to be finished and open later in term 3.

  • The 3/F of the Vertical Extension will close at Easter (E6 - E15). Classes that have used these spaces will be relocated to the B rooms, P rooms and other locations.

  • The 2/F of the Vertical Extension remains open to students for most of May, but with no lessons taking place in these classrooms (E1 - E5).

  • To allow for the work to take place on the 3/F, access to the tennis courts will be limited to just the one staircase (nearest school front gate). The access will either be through the SSC or from the G/F

There have been a number of tutor groups relocated to new tutor bases. See summary Attached.

Lessons and tutor-times will commence in the new rooms from Monday the 28th of April.

- check your timetables carefully over the Easter break. Lionel should reflect any changes that have occurred.


Site news: Lockers - Year 9 to Year 13...

Due to the closure of spaces in the Vertical Extension (2/F and 3/F), lockers need to be cleared by the end of this week (11th of April)...

Year 9+10 - Mr Fisher will or has been in touch with the alternative arrangments in place for you after Easter. Any belongings left in the lockers at the end of this week, will be removed and stored in the Middle School Office.

Seniors - Please make sure you remove your lock and empty the contents before the end of the week. After Easter and during the exam/core weeks, you will be able to use the lockers on a daily basis (removing contents at the end of each day). CAS Opportunity: Audition Notice

We have had a number of students in the past who have performed and worked with AFTEC - a very good professional experience.

They are looking for student 16+ at the time of the audition and Cantonese/English fluency - their shows are usually bi-lingual.

General: South Island School Business Day (competition) - Friday 30 May 2014

This is a competitive event - a mix of Dragon's Den and the Apprentice. The task will be to devise a business strategy on a theme to be announced at the event. No preparation needed. Breakfast, lunch and quality prizes are available. Approximately 12 business leaders will be there to offer advice throughout the day. Interested students should apply in writing (max 1 side A4) as to why they would like to compete in this event and how it will enhance their learning journey at KGV. Preference will be given to Business students. Closing date for applications (emailed to Mr Goff and Mrs Edwards - Tuesday 29 April 2013.

The U20 Junior World trophy is in Hong Kong this week featuring 4 ex KGV pupils in the Hong Kong side. Hong Kong's fixtures are;

Art Department: The Table of the Element ceramic project completed by last year's year 9 Art classes has finally been installed!

To the left of the entrance to the Guildford Lecture Theatre houses the new ceramic arts mural created by the Art and Science departments, visit before Easter to see if your tile made it on to the wall of the new block!
