Meet a Nobel laureate.
Are any students wishing to meet with Prof Eric Maskin (Nobel Laureate 2007).
During his brief stay, Prof Maskin has indicated interest to meet informally with some high school students. We just confirmed that he can be available in the afternoon of 16 March. The tentative arrangement is to meet at 4pm, at the G/F restaurant of HKUST, Clear Water Bay. Wonder if we can have 3 senior-year students from KGV who are interested in Economics to join us in this occasion. (We are thinking of a small scale, interactive session.)
Here's some information about Prof Maskin for your easy reference:
Professor Eric Maskin received his PhD in applied mathematics in 1976 from Harvard University.
He had been teaching at MIT (1977-1984) and Harvard (1985-2000) before he joined the Institute
for Advanced Study in Princeton as Albert O. Hirschman Professor of Social Science.
He was elected Fellow of the Econometric Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences
and the European Economic Association, Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy and
Honorary Fellow of St John’s College Cambridge. He is also an Honorary Professor at Wuhan and
Tsinghua Universities.
Professor Maskin’s work in economic theory has had deep influence on many areas of
economics, political science, and law. For his contribution in laying the foundation of mechanism
design theory, he was awarded the 2007 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. His current
research focus is on mechanism design, repeated games, income inequality, and the theory of
voting.

Could you be one of the main presenter at next week’s Middle School Assembly?
The Middle School Assembly is coming up on Wednesday 17th March and the MSSC would like to have 2 people leading and introducing the various items in the MSA (one boy and one girl) from Years 9 and 10.
