KGV Success at Hong Kong Model United Nations

From the 25th to the 27th of March, 16 of KGV’s best delegates represented KGV in the HKMUN, the largest Model United Nations conference in Hong Kong. MUN is a competitive stimulation that fosters public speaking, teamwork and debating skills. But above that, it is an opportunity for students to foster a sense of diplomacy and understanding of international relations.

Our delegates participated in various conferences, from ‘the Political and Economic crisis in Venezuela’ to the ‘Democracy deficit in Africa.’ The topics debated were all complex global and local issues, and they challenged delegates to hold new perspectives and be world-class citizens.

Our delegates have all put an incredible amount of work into these conferences, and I would like to congratulate all delegates on their active engagement with the challenging material presented to them. I would further like to applaud the excellent performances of Hayley Hau, Chris Pang, Matthew Lam, and Veda Mahbubani, who all received awards at the HKMUN closing ceremony.

I look forward to seeing what our delegates, as global citizens, can accomplish next!

Sophie Qi
KGV MUN Student Leader

So much of the fantastic performance at this year’s competition is due to the organisational and motivational skills of Sophie Qi. She has demonstrated an outstanding capacity for leadership that not only led to success at HKMUN but has also encouraged younger students to get involved with our own KGV MUN, Victoria Shanghai Academy MUN and the upcoming Australian International School MUN.
