Interhouse Swimming Gala 2016

It was as though we had been blessed, dark clouds were abound but none over Kowloon Tsai Swimming Pool. The individual race competition was in full flow, the Cheer Leaders and House Captains organised their teams wonderfully, smooth as clockwork. Five individual records had been broken, congratulations goes out to Y7 Hanna Imura 50m Backstroke 37.06, Y8 Man Wing Hung 50m Breaststroke 36.76, Y13 Jonathan Tse 50m Butterfly 26.03 &  Boris Yang 50m Breaststroke 31.44 & 50m Backstroke 29.47. But as the Freestyle Relays started to gather and race, the first rain drops fell. The thunder started to roll and lightning flashed. The Gala came to a sudden but ominous stop. After a quick consultation with KGV parents and the recording desk, the missing events were re-scheduled back to KGV. Proceedings halted, pompoms put away! Tuesday witnessed an incredible afternoon, 200 students plus congregated poolside and as the atmosphere peaked, so did the races begin. Thank you to all that attended and made such a special afternoon at KGV. Results now complied, all medals presented, the overall championship shield could be awarded. Wednesday lunchtime, we celebrated the final Cheer Leading performance – Upsdell crowned well deserved winners.

Then followed the presentation of the 2016 Swimming Gala Overall Champions! A massive well done goes out to all in ROWELL, a great combined effort from whole school house!
