Head of Senior School’s Message

Dear Parents,

Year 12 IB students have had a busy week in terms of assessments. Alongside this they are also putting the final touches to their Extended Essays. They should have completed and received feedback from their supervisors on their draft and are now working towards the final deadline of Sunday 17 June at 9:00 p.m. In Theory of Knowledge they have been researching and finalising their oral presentation. Most students are working in pairs for this. It is an assessed part of the course and a formal IB Diploma requirement. Alongside the Extended Essay, the grades for these two aspects of the Diploma contribute a maximum of 3 marks.

With just over one more week to go before the end of the iGCSE examinations the students still have Biology, Chemistry and Physics papers to sit. The final examination is Further Pure Mathematics on 20 June. They can then enjoy a well-earned break before making preparations for the start of their new course on 15 August. Option change requests should now all be finalised on Lionel.

There are many items of clothing (shoes, fleeces, PE kits), water bottles and bags amongst many other items currently in lost property. Where items are named messages are sent to the students concerned, but very few students actually respond to these messages and pick up their belongings. Items are currently on display outside the Middle School Office. After the 13 June all items will be removed and donated to charity, whether they are named or not. If your child has misplaced items please direct them to check for their belongings ahead of next Wednesday’s deadline.
