HEAD OF MIDDLE SCHOOL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents

There is an emptiness in the corridors surrounding the Middle School Office. Gone are the tables laden with lost property, all of which has been taken to charities associated with the school. Here’s hoping that students can be mindful of their belongings so that this space is kept clear over the final two weeks of this term.

To those parents who made it to the Year 10 Information Evening on Wednesday 13th June, I hope that you found it useful. The move to Senior School is another step in your child’s KGV journey, and it is time to start considering the steps that follow shortly after with regards to IB Diploma and BTEC programmes of study. Information from the presentations will be circulated shortly. Should you have any questions then please do get in touch with the school. In the first instance perhaps the best person to get in touch with is Ms Olivia Pang (olivia.pang@kgv.edu.hk) who is the Senior School Administrator. She will be able to direct your queries to the right people. Further to this, Year 10 Parents will be receiving the Senior School weekly bulletin message from this Friday onwards.

We are looking forward to cementing the move to Senior School for Year 10’s at the Year 10 Celebration, aka The Big Bash. This takes place on Thursday 21st June 2018 and runs from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. Tickets are on sale with the current price set at $80. I have been informed by the organising committee that prices rise next week to $100, so tickets should be purchased as soon as possible, particularly as this helps with planning the event.

The Middle School Team of Heads of College and Tutors are engaged in the application process to appoint our Year 10 Student Leaders for 2018-19. We have had a large number of applications from Year 9 students for the roles of Prefect, House Captain and Community and Service Learning (CASL) Leaders. We try to be as thorough as we can, but unfortunately there will be some students who miss out. For those who do miss out feedback will be available on what they can do to improve their chances when they next apply for leadership positions. At the moment we plan to be able to tell Year 9 students who the Year 10 Student Leaders are just prior to the end of term on Wednesday 27th June.

I hope you enjoy the long weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone back in school for the penultimate week of the school year on Tuesday 19th June.

Enjoy the Dragon Boat Festival.
