HKAYP

Hong Kong Award for Young People (formerly Duke of Edinburgh Award)

As part of the structured CAS programme within the International Baccalaureate KGV offers its Year 12 students the opportunity to participate in the Bronze Award of the HKAYP.

HKAYP offers students an opportunity to develop skills in orienteering, camp-craft, hiking and first aid. In their own time, students complete components of community service, personal skills development and physical recreation.

The structured CAS component involves instruction in camp-craft, first aid, map work, health and safety and group logistics. This instruction takes place primarily in class. In order to attain the Bronze Award students are required to successfully complete 2 training expeditions and one assessment expedition involving hiking and overnight camping in Hong Kong.

The programme is administered by fully qualified HKAYP accredited teaching staff within the school and is supported by other appropriate teaching staff.
