 “Get out of your comfort zones, Lend out your helping hand” is the brand new motto for participation in Community Service; which has been a long established trait amongst KGV students and it has been proven to be a crucial part of the extended curriculum as both students and the wider community are able to benefit from out devoted contributions. Since its naissance at the year 2006, the KGV Community Service committee has established partnerships with the Community Chest, TWGS Wong Cho Tong, HKSPC, YMCA, SPCA, and Crossroads international.
We are proud to announce that we currently have over 200 students from KGV participating in over 15 community service opportunities that we have set up across Hong Kong. This includes regular Flag Day events, raising funds for “Helping Hand” through the Sporty Panda campaign, and organizing the Annual Christmas Party involving Asylum seekers and Nepalese children from Inner City Ministries (ICM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. There is no doubt that 2009-2010 will be another fruitful and rewarding year for devoted students in KGV.
Serving the underprivileged has always been an important aspect of our school community. Any contribution that we can make will always be cherished and anyone can create a lasting impact on the society surrounding them. We participate in such activities not only for the benefit of others, but also to further our own self development and understanding. It takes an acknowledgement of the deprived to truly appreciate what we have for ourselves. Our students never hesitate to play a crucial role in these meaningful acts as there may be no better time to contribute both to the school community as well as the wider society of Hong Kong.
