Dragon Maths 2018
On 8 March 2018, 16 KGV students travelled to Chinese International School to participate in Dragon Maths 2018, a mathematics competition for the most able students in Hong Kong in Year 8 and 9. KGV had 2 teams of Year 8 and 2 teams of Year 9. There were 27 schools, over 400 students. Last year we reported that the Year 9 KGV team came second, beaten by ONE point!! Again, this year we have to report that our Year 8 team came second…. beaten by ONE point!! Congratulations to our Year 8 team, David Han, Katherine Yan, Jack Xiang and David Yang. A great day was had by all and the students came back buzzing! We will win next year!
Here are some of the students’ comments:
Daniel – “Dragon Maths was both a physically and mentally fun experience for all of us. We were challenged to many different questions, tested to our limits, along with running around like headless chickens”
Terence: “I really enjoyed the fun that was today, I loved having a challenge that was way past our level as it shows us there is so much more to learn”
Parul: “I personally think that Dragon Maths is an outstanding experience and provides a lot of space for learning and improvement. I am thankful for being able to represent KGV in Dragon Maths”
