Xining Children's Home - Qinghai, China
Students will work in a children's home for disadvantaged and disabled children. This will include taking children on different activities, -playing games and generally helping out at the home. There will be an opportunity to visit another children's home and to spend the day at an impoverished village on the Qinghai Plateau.

Brief Itinerary - Fly possibly from Shenzhen to Xining. Transfer to hotel in the city centre. Each day is spent working in the home with a structured reflection meeting every evening on student experience. This trip provides a "deep" service opportunity and students signing up for this trip should be prepared for not only hard work but an emotionally challenging experience. All students in Year 12 and 13 are welcome on this trip and an ability to speak Mandarin would be most welcome.

This will be the ninth year I have led a trip to Xining Children's Home through the Hong Kong charity Christian Action. Last year the trip was unable to run because of swine flu but we managed to provide an equally challenging alternative for our students. We are very confident that this trip will run smoothly this year but will provide an alternative if circumstances alter again.
