BRIEF ITINERARY

Day 1: Depart Hong Kong for Miri, Borneo, and transfer from the airport to your accommodation.

Day 2: After breakfast, explore the Niah Caves deep underground. They are thousands of years old and famous for their history and great network of pathways. Later in the day, transfer to your accommodation in the Lambir Hills National Park. You may decide to do a guided night walk tonight.

Day 3: This is a full day of trekking in the Lambir Hills National Park. The park is one of the most biologically diverse areas of rainforest in Borneo. As well as hiking its stunning trails looking out for monkeys and birds, the park also offers a canopy viewing tower and delightful jungle pools and waterfalls in which you can swim. You overnight at the park headquarters again tonight.

Day 4: An early departure from Lambir Hills National Park for Miri to catch your flight to Kota Kinabalu. On arrival you settle into your accommodation and meet with representatives from Asia Ability for a briefing about the Bukit Harapan Orphanage.

Day 5: Today is spent volunteering your time, and energy, at the orphanage. The children really crave attention and playing simple games with them enriches their lives immensely. As well as engaging with the children, you may like to assist the centre staff with their day-to-day chores around the centre.

Day 6: This is your last full day in Borneo. Options today include visiting the Nature Reserve at the Shangri-La Hotel to see the orangutans and other native wildlife of Borneo, or taking a boat trip to the islands off Kota Kinabalu.

Day 7: Have a look around the markets before heading to the airport and departing Borneo for Hong Kong.

Creative - Designing games and activities to play with the children at the orphanage.

Action - Caving, trekking and swimming in the jungle, and if you're daring, climbing a canopy viewing deck.

Service - Sharing your time with the children at the orphanage and trying to contribute to their lives in a meaningful way. Assisting the centre staff with their day-to-day chores around the centre. Holding fund-raising events to raise money and much needed items for the orphanage.
