ITINERARY.

KENYA – The Return to Tala – Challenge Week 09

 

Day 1                Saturday 10th October

Fly from HK to Nairobi via Dubai. The flight from HK will depart in the evening.

 

Day 2                Sunday 11th October

Arrive in Kenya early morning and check in to hotel. Visit the Nairobi Giraffe Centre, Nairobi National Park and the Bomas of Kenya for a Cultural Show. Dinner and overnight in Nairobi.

 

The ‘Bomas of Kenya’, is a cultural centre situated 10km from the city centre where we will experience and learn about Africa’s rich cultural heritage. On show will be the colourfully dressed Bomas Harambee dancers swirling to the rhythm of traditional African music. A guided tour will allow us to explore some of the traditional villages allowing us to appreciate the richness of Kenya’s tribal culture. ‘Bomas’ is an African word meaning ‘An African Homestead’ and houses different styles of Bomas, each representing one of Kenya’s major ethnic groups. We will marvel together at the traditional African architecture of the Bomas and gain an insight into the cultural diversity of Kenya’s rural tribes.

 

Day 3                Monday 12th October                Tala Day 1

Straight to Tala School after breakfast. ‘Tala School Welcome the Return of KGV’. Tala School Student and Parent Dance. KGV Charity Committee donation HK$10,000. Tour of school, all KGV Students with Tala School Students. Packed lunch. Start CAS work in afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Nairobi.

 

The CAS work that the students will undertake will be very similar to the general improvements to the teaching and learning environments that were made on the previous trip. Painting murals and improving the condition of the classrooms will be the primary focus.

 

Day 4                Tuesday 13th October               Tala Day 2

CAS work all day at Tala School. Finish CAS work today. Packed lunch. Dinner and overnight in Nairobi.

 

Day 5                Wednesday 14th October           Tala Day 3

Return to Tala School. Teaching and games with the Tala children led by KGV students. An emotional handover and farewell ceremony. Dinner and overnight in Nairobi

 

Day 6                Thursday 15th October              Trek Up Volcano

Depart Nairobi after breakfast. Arrive at the base of Mt. Longonot Volcano and climb to the top of the crater’s edge in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight Longonot.

 

Mt. Longonot is a dormant cone-shaped stratovolcano found in the rift valley. At 2,776 metres, it is the most prominent feature on the landscape in the southern rift valley area around Naivasha, approximately 60km from Nairobi.

 

Day 7                Friday 16th October                   Safari Day 1 (1/2 Day)

Depart Longonot after breakfast. Arrive at the Masai Mara in the afternoon. Settle into camp. Game drive in the late afternoon then dinner and overnight at campsite.

 

Day 8                Saturday 17th October               Safari Day 2 (Full Day)

Full day in Masai Mara. Various game drives. Picnic lunch by Mara River and walk to see the crocodiles with Rangers. Dinner and overnight at campsite.

 

Day 9                Sunday 18th October                 Safari Day 3 (1/2 Day)

Early morning game drive. Leave the campsite after breakfast. Visit authentic Masai Village. Arrive back in Nairobi late afternoon. Safari Park show including acrobats and tribal dancing then BBQ (full buffet and chefs doing the cooking) in the evening.

 

Day 10              Monday 19th October

Brunch, check out the hotel then for head to a Village Market Shopping Mall for… Shopping, eating, cinema, bowling and more shopping!  Transfer to airport. Flight departs in the evening.

 

Day 11              Tuesday 20th October

Flight arrives back in HK at approximately 18:00. Students met at the airport by their parents.
