BRIEF ITINERARY

Action – walking, camping and discovering a side of Hong Kong people rarely see. The Lantau trail is a 70 km walk starting and finishing at Mui Wo. The trail goes through dramatic scenery such as the spectacular views from Lantau and Sunset Peaks, as well as the sandy beaches of Cheung Sha. The trail also passes through rural communities such as the fishing ‘stilt’ village of Tai O, as well as religious sites such as the Big Buddha, Po Lin monastery and other isolated Buddhist monasteries. We will also visit an ancient fort at Fan Lau.

Service – investigating the restoration work on Fan Lau fort, as well as re-construction work in Tai O following the typhoons in 2008.

Requirements – you will need to be reasonably fit, enjoy camping outside and have a sense of adventure! You will not need money for accommodation as we will be camping in the open countryside. You will only need money for ferry tickets, meals and drinks. There may also be a small cost for tent hire.
