The study of History at KGV aims to equip our students with an understanding of the past which will help them understand better the world they live in today. Through enquiry based learning a variety of skills, based around the IB Learner Profile will be developed.

In Year 10 and 11 students can chose to study History at IGCSE level. The topics studied are:
Development of Dictatorship: Germany,1918-45
The USA,1917-29
A divided union: Civil Rights in the USA, 1945-74
A world divided: Superpower relations, 1945-62
Conflict, crisis and change: China c.1934-89
For the IB diploma we study, at Standard Level:
Peacemaking, peacekeeping - international relations 1918-36
Causes, practices and effects of wars
Origins and development or authoritarianism and single party states
The Cold War
Students complete a coursework assignment on any topic of History that interests them
Higher Level candidates study the above and a look in more depth at 20th Century Europe.
