"What a school thinks of its library is a reflection of what it thinks for education" At KGV, we will strive to make our library the best it can be as a heart of a school by providing a cultural centre where students and teachers alike come to pursue knowledge, to read and reflect.



Our aims:

To ensure that the collection satisfies the needs of students, staff and the school curriculum.
To provide an atmosphere in which private study, recreational reading and group-centred learning can flourish together.
To provide opportunities for students and staff to develop information skills using the full range of library resources effectively and efficiently.

Location & Environment

The library occupies a designed room of 250 square meters at the first floor of Link blocks and provides a welcoming, comfortable and quiet environment to meet students' and teachers' needs of the curriculum.

Monday to Friday 7:45am to 4:30pm



Library team

A teacher with library responsibility provides policy advice and guidance and acts as a 'bridge' between library and teaching staff. Two and a half library staff who are always in the library to provide lending and referencing services as well as promoting reading and literary activities. A Library Committee consisting of representatives from each faculty meets once a term to act as a sounding board for new ideas and to discuss policy and development plans.





Resources collection includes:

Over 17000 resources in print format including books and audio-visual materials
A wide variety of popular contemporary and classical fiction from world authors
Appropriate non-fiction collection meeting curriculum and recreational needs
56 serials subscriptions consists of newspaper, magazines and journals
A wide range of online databases providing electronic collections of newspapers, magazines and reference resources
A comprehensive reference collection
Audio Visual collections
Special collection includes Biography and Hong Kong collection

Facilities

About 45 students could use the study area for independent, group study
12 seats are provided for quiet leisure reading
12 PCs and 5 laptops
1 scanner, colour printer and photocopier
2 OPACs specially for searching the library catalogue in the library
