 It is my pleasure to write a few words of introduction to KGV School. You will quickly be able to find out for yourself what a dynamic and high achieving place it is by exploring this website in detail. The messages conveyed in it will be far more powerful than my general words.
We are a school that values its traditions and heritage but recognises that we have to look forward if we are to prepare KGV students to be successful in the 21st Century. Our Curriculum is International with most of our students pursuing the International Baccalaureate Diploma in the Senior School and our Middle School Curriculum increasingly concerned with preparing our students for this challenge. We achieve excellent academic results because of the outstanding attitudes of our students, energetically supported by their parents, and our deep commitment to teaching and learning. KGV teachers are creative, ambitious and dedicated to engaging and inspiring their students in the classroom and beyond.
It is an exciting place to work as a teacher or a student because there is always so much going on. Our most frequent challenge is to fit everything we want to do into the confines of the teaching day and year. We are an inclusive school and we value our diverse community of students who come from many different cultures, with varying degrees of language capability (above our basic need for English proficiency) and a range of aptitudes for learning. We like to think of ourselves as a "Local International" School as such a high proportion of our students come to us from our local Kowloon community and yet want to develop their international aspirations. Few students are in transit and we are therefore able to develop an enduring sense of community and school pride.
Recently we have brought to life our commitment to sustainability with a range of initiatives. This shows that we are concerned about our shared future and are prepared to act in support of it. KGV is a school that takes action and values performance.
